About
100 Things
  1. My birthday is October 4. Yup. 10-4, good buddy.
  2. I'm a whopping 62.5" (158.75cm) tall.
  3. Whenever someone asks me what I want for Christmas, I reply, "I want to be tall." I never get what I ask for.
  4. I am the oldest of three children. I have one brother, who is 7 years younger than me, and one sister, who is 9 years younger.
  5. I wanted to learn to play the drums or trumpet when I was starting music lessons in school. My mother wouldn't let me because they weren't "girl" instruments and I ended up learning the clarinet instead. I'm still bitter about it.
  6. I won an award for best supporting actress at a play competition in high school for playing an old man.
  7. I had a clump of shocking pink hair at the nape of neck for several years in my late teens.
  8. For most of my childhood, I wanted to be a film director. I even researched film schools for college. Once I realized the probability of me becoming the next Steven Spielberg was less than zero, I decided to major in something "safe", mathematics.
  9. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Mathematics. I minored in Computer Science.
  10. At one time, I did contract work for the government as a computer programmer. One of my jobs involved working on the B-2 bomber.
  11. Currently, my primary occupation is custom dressmaking. Right after college, I started taking dressmaking classes as a hobby and an outlet to de-stress. I discovered I had a natural ability for it. When we moved to Oregon, I took a chance and started my own business.
  12. My secondary occupation is website design and database programming. It's slowly becoming my primary occupation.
  13. Mr Moo is three years younger than me.
  14. We met for the very first time in a men's room.
  15. We've been happily married for over 10 years.
  16. We went to Washington DC on our honeymoon for two reasons. 1) We were moving to Oregon a few months later and wanted to do something "East Coast-ish". 2) We were broke and all of the museums and other places we wanted to visit were free.
  17. We are child-free by choice. It's a decision we've never regretted.
  18. I'm afraid of the dark. Not to the point where I have to sleep with a light on, but I really really dislike being in it.
  19. I am deathly afraid of spiders (or any creatures with more than 6 legs, for that matter).
  20. I also have (in my opinion) a healthy fear of heights. My sister mocked me because I was too afraid to go on the London Eye. When she eventually joined me on another trip, she was going to ride it while I waited on the ground. Guess what. My sister shares my fear of heights. Who's mocking now, sis?
  21. I have an unnatural aversion to ketchup. Just the site of it on a plate can make me retch. If I were to wash a dish with some on it and accidentally got a bit on my skin, I, honestly, think I would faint. Spaghetti sauce, on the other hand, doesn't bother me at all. Go figure.
  22. I love taking showers that are just this side of scalding. I know it's terrible for my skin, but I still love them.
  23. I have terrible balance. I can barely dry my feet when I get out of the shower without falling over. I also have really bad eye-hand coordination.
  24. My right foot is over a half size bigger than my left. I have calluses on the bottom of my left foot because my left shoes never fit properly.
  25. I have a really strong sense of smell, but, for some bizzaro reason, I am "blind" to skunk smell. I can't smell it at all unless it is so strong everyone around me is gagging/passing out and, even then, I can only smell it a tiny bit.
  26. Even though I don't like it and won't eat it, I've been told I make a mean lasagna.
  27. I don't like cheese. Yes, you heard me right. I. Don't. Like. Cheese.
  28. I drink a can of Diet Mt Dew every morning instead of coffee, which I hate. If I don't, I suffer from caffeine withdrawal and get terrible migraines.
  29. I drink my Dew straight from the can at room temperature.
  30. My favorite candies are Skittles and peanut butter cups. My favorite cereal is Lucky Charms. I've never met a cake or cookie I didn't like. I could drink grape or orange Kool-Aid until my stomach exploded. I loves me some sugar.
  31. I am a super-fussy eater. Almost everything I eat has to be completely plain (no condiments, weird sauces or toppings of any kind) and I don't like my food to touch on the plate.
  32. When it comes to eating, Mr Moo is the polar opposite of me. He'll eat just about anything. We have found only three things that I like but he hates: pickles, grapefruit and one other thing I can't remember right now.
  33. I do not drink alcohol of any kind. It and my stomach are not friends. I took a capful of Nyquil when I was sick recently and ended up throwing up all night.
  34. I love doing all sorts of crafts and always have loads of projects in progress. I never seem to completely finish any of them, however.
  35. Foreign countries I have visited (as of July 2008): Canada, Mexico, England, France. I hope to add lots more to this list in the coming years.
  36. I speak a fair bit of French, but I am far from bilingual. All the French I know I learned in high school.
  37. Aside from when it's sweltering hot, my hands and feet (and most of the rest of me) are almost always cold. I know when I feel comfortable in a room, everyone else must be sweating to death.
  38. I always have socks on. Always. Even when I'm sleeping.
  39. I love watching movies more than just about anything else. I'm really good at letting myself get lost in the stories and love the escapism of the whole experience.
  40. I've seen the movie Ratatouille about a million times. I watch it when I can't sleep. I've seen it so many times, when I put it on now, it's like taking a sleeping pill.
  41. I love Christmas music and listen to it all year round.
  42. I have a black mark on my right forearm near my elbow. It's the spot where I was stabbed with a pencil in grade school. The lead got under the skin and it never went away.
  43. I've had three surgeries: wisdom teeth extraction, gallbladder removal and orthognathic (jaw) surgery. The latter was a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, which moved my lower jaw forward.
  44. As I was waking up in the recovery room from my jaw surgery, I made motions for a pen and some paper since I was wired shut and couldn't speak. The first thing I wrote, much to the nurses' amusement, was "I've changed my mind."
  45. I sleep like a corpse. I move so little when I sleep, I usually just have to smooth the covers a little to make the bed.
  46. I met and talked to Cher on the set of Witches of Eastwick. I was at a college prep program for the summer and they filmed a scene on campus.
  47. I've always wished I could sing. Unfortunately, I am completely and totally tone deaf. Sigh.
  48. I was raised Catholic, but now consider myself agnostic.
  49. My confirmation name is Frideswide.
  50. I am very pro-choice. Besides my sister, I don't think anyone else in my entire family is. As far as I know, all of Mr Moo's family is. It's a strange dichotomy.
  51. I believe homosexuals should have the right to marry. I wish those who oppose it claiming it's a threat to the sanctity of marriage would take a look around. Heterosexuals are doing a pretty bang up job of that without any help at all from gays.
  52. My first job was at a public library. I was 14.
  53. I am addicted to office supplies. Gelly pens are my crack.
  54. Red is, by far, my most favorite color ever.
  55. We own a gun. It's a Glock 9mm handgun.
  56. I have a fantastic memory when it comes to trivia and other useless bits of information. If it's something important, however, forget it. I can't remember anything.
  57. There is something about my brother-in-law that reminds me of Ashton Kutcher, but I can't put my finger on what it is. When I mention this, everyone thinks I'm crazy.
  58. I get carsick unbelievably quickly and easily. I'm usually feeling queasy within a couple miles and have thrown up because of it more times than I can count.
  59. As much as I normally love talking about myself, I'm having a really difficult time populating this list.
  60. I've never been told I look like a celebrity, but I have been told I sound like Jodie Foster.
  61. I'm developing bursitis in my right shoulder. It's becoming increasingly painful and is making it very difficult for me to do a lot of the things I love, like cross stitch. The thought of someday not being able to do these things at all frightens me more than I can describe.
  62. I have the ability to move my pinkie toes independently of the others. My sister can do this as well. Apparently, we have abnormally strong control of our Abductor digiti minimi muscles. Our husbands think we are freaks.
  63. I really want to get a dog. The biggest thing holding me back is the fact that I'm lazy and I know I won't want to walk it every day.
  64. As much I try to deny it, I really do look just like my mother.
  65. I don't get why people are afraid of going to the dentist. I like getting my teeth professionally cleaned and knowing I'm doing all I can to keep them from rotting out of my head.
  66. Former Senator Bob Packwood has been in my house. He even said hello to my goldfish.
  67. I have a green thumb outside. I can get stuff to grow like mad anywhere in our yard. When it comes to houseplants, however, my thumb is black. Very black. I kill everything.
  68. I don't have time to read much anymore, but, when I do, it's mostly horror novels by Stephen King, Dean Koontz and company. My all-time favorite author, however, is Nathaniel Hawthorne.
  69. When I was a small child, I was excruciatingly shy to the point where I had trouble talking to members of my own family. Now, I'll talk to anyone who will listen and you can never shut me up.
  70. Whenever a digital clock reads 11:11, the following conversation must ensue.
Me: Ask me what time it is. Quick!
Mr Moo: (sighs) What time is it?
    Moo: F!
    Mr Moo: (groans)
  71. I am completely fascinated by learning new things. I love to watch history and science documentaries, how things work/are made shows and anything else that teaches me stuff. I only wish I had had this thirst for knowledge when I was in school.
  72. I want to learn to play the cello.
  73. I would love to visit all of the national parks in the US before I die. Unfortunately, at the rate we're going, it's not going to happen.
  74. It's an incredibly beautiful place, but I honestly think Zion National Park is way overrated.
  75. I don't like the taste of water. There's something about my body chemistry that makes it taste metallic, even the filtered and bottled stuff.
  76. I am definitely in the toilet paper going over, not under, camp.
  77. I have mild Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I don't do the hand washing or any of the repetitive motion things, but I do get "stuck" on activities a lot, and routines, order and sorting consume a large volume of my time.
  78. I should have gone to bed hours ago, but I'm obsessed with getting this damned list finished. (see previous item)
  79. I always forget the punch line to jokes just as I get to them. It's terribly embarrassing. I've given up telling scripted jokes.
  80. I've never been into "girly" things. I almost never wear make up, do much with my hair, paint my nails, etc. I am happy with just a couple pairs of comfortable shoes and only own one small purse. It might make me a freak, but think of all the money I've saved over the years.
  81. I've been told more than once my handwriting (specifically my printing) would make a great font.
  82. My pee stinks after I eat asparagus.
  83. When I get totally stressed or really angry, I start to cry. I hate it.
  84. I miss having grandparents.
  85. Some days, I talk to the cat more than Mr Moo.
  86. When I was a child, I tied my name and address to a balloon and let it go. A nice man found it several towns away and wrote to me. He even went to the trouble of getting a balloon stamp for the envelope. I wish I still had that letter.
  87. I love nuts of all kinds. Pistachios. Cashews. Walnuts. Almonds. The list goes on and on. Yummay! Just wish they didn't have 40 billion calories per serving.
  88. I can type really fast. Until, of course, someone points out that I type really fast and I start thinking about it, then I can't type at all.
  89. I have a noticeable hearing loss in my left ear. I remember the first hearing test I failed as a child. I didn't know why the nurse kept telling me over and over again to raise my hand when I heard the beep. I hadn't heard anything yet and she thought I just didn't understand what to do.
  90. I've owned two cars in my life. Both were white two-door Ford Escort hatchbacks. I'm still driving the second one.
  91. I often think about becoming a wedding planner or travel agent. I think those would be fantastic ways to utilize my organizational skills. Then I remember how difficult working with people, especially brides, can be and I change my mind.
  92. I am very right handed. I can do almost nothing with my left hand. It's useless.
  93. I took horseback riding lessons as a phys ed class in college. I also took ballroom dancing and bowling. I wanted to take archery, but it was always much too early in the morning.
  94. I have no idea what my blood type is even though I've had surgery three times and had to have a blood test to get my marriage license.
  95. For years, I had wonky blood test results, which indicated I was and was not anemic all at the same time. I finally got referred to a blood specialist, who formally diagnosed me with thalassemia.
  96. I've swum with dolphins and hiked amongst bison.
  97. I think feet are the ugliest and most disgusting things ever. Everyone's. Yes, even yours with the manicured and painted toenails. Hideous. Come on, people. Throw out those flip flops, get some real shoes and cover those awful things up, please!
  98. I love the light late in the afternoon on crisp sunny fall days.
  99. I doubt myself and my abilities way more than I should.
  100. Most people think I look young for my age. I'm still unsure if that is a good or a bad thing.
