If you're anything like me, over the years, you've accumulated many pairs of shoes that are now living (often times worn only once) in boxes on the top shelf of your closet.

Frequently, they're in boxes from another pair of shoes, so, when you're looking for a particular pair, style or color, you have to take them all down and go through each box to find what you're looking for. Annoying, isn't it? I came across this amazingly clever idea for organizing your shoes on the website of a woman who is way more creative than I am. First, take and print out a photo of each pair of said shoes.

You want them all to be generally the same in size and background. I set up the camera on the tripod to make everything consistent. It also made the task a breeze since all I had to do was swap out each pair of shoes and press a button. It might take a little bit of time and effort to get the print size worked out, but once you determine what works best for you, the rest of them are easy. I reduced my photos in size a bit and printed two images on each sheet of 5 x 7" paper. I found the finished 3 1/2 x 5" size was just right for almost all of my shoeboxes. After printing, cut up your photographs appropriately.

If you can, I recommend printing without the white borders because they're annoying as frell to cut off. Finally, once you have all of your lovely shoe pictures ready to go, tape them to the outside of the appropriate shoebox and voila!

You can now see exactly which shoes are in which box with ease, even if they're on the topmost shelf of your closet.

So, Imelda, what do you do in your spare time?

Good grief! and I thought I was the organization freak.

You really think 22 pairs of shoes acquired over a lifetime is a lot? I bet, if you counted them, you would discover you have a lot more pairs of shoes than you think you do.

I got tired of having to ask Mr Moo to get all of the boxes down every time I was hunting for shoes. And, he was even more sick of it than I was. He's quite pleased that I'll be able to ask for just one specific box now.

This project took less than an afternoon. I did the whole thing while watching a football game on Sunday. It really wasn't a huge deal.

No, 22 pairs isn't alot. And no, I don't have 22 pairs myself. But, if I don't wear a pair in a year or two, they get donated or chucked.

I keep my shoes on the floor of the closet and have a riser so I have two levels of shoes. I mostly wear sneakers anyway. I had a problem with my feet some years back I don't have to many pairs of dress shoes anymore.

Didn't mean to be critical, I was just joking around.

I'm too much of a pack rat to get rid of perfectly good shoes that I don't happen wear anymore. Never know when an event will come up and I'll need them again. You're much stronger than I am to get rid of them.

My every day shoes I keep on the floor of the closet, too. The boxes are for long term storage. I used to keep them in one of those cardboard shoe storage things, but I got sick of having the dust them all the time.

I didn't think you were being critical. Sorry if you thought I did.
