Will someone, please, explain to me why people keep saying things like, "If the communications at Virginia Tech were better, they could have prevented all of those deaths"? What exactly did they expect them to do? Have a secretary call nearly 30,000 students and faculty and leave a message? Send out an email that I bet 95% of people wouldn't have had access to or read until well after the fact? I don't understand what magic "communication" they think would have prevented all of this. I think the police and administrators did the best job they could, given the circumstances, and people need to cut them some slack.
