It's the hard-knock life. |
After several excutiating days like this... |
PC is dead, dead, dead. It's in pieces on the big table and Mr Moo is going to attempt to get it "fixed" (patched, not rebuilt) and running again tonight. In the meantime, I'm using my laptop for internet access. It works well enough to get me online, but I have none of my usual bookmarks on here, the email tool is not set up properly and all of my work data and programs were on the PC. In other words, aside from reading the news and making an occasional journal post, it's pretty much useless. On the bright side, since I've been pretty much computer-less since Sunday night, my house is getting very clean. I spent all day yesterday cleaning upstairs and I'm going to attack downstairs today. And, once all that's done, I'm going to rev up the sewing machine and see about getting caught up on some sewing projects, both client and personal. Sucks not having my PC (Boo!), but at least stuff is getting done (Yay!). |
Mr Moo has been working fervently to save the hard drive in my PC. It was not looking good for a long while. Lots of weird death screens (some blue, some not) and it wouldn't even boot a majority of the time. Suddenly, like magic, it just booted up like absolutely nothing was wrong. Needless to say, we couldn't make a backup fast enough. He's suspicious it's infected with some scary new virus that the scanners don't even know about yet. He's running an updated scan right now while he grabs a shower. Once that's done and we finish backing up the rest of the drives, I think we will be starting the arduous task of building a new machine. I'm excited about getting a new and better PC, but rebuilds are always such a pain in the butt. And, considering Mr Moo is leaving on his business trip at the end of the week, the timing couldn't be worse. |
My PC has gone big ba-da-boom this morning. I'm posting this from the laptop. Mr Moo is attempting to sort what exactly has gone wrong with it. He keeps making noises and muttering, "Oh, this is not good." At this point, I don't care if the whole thing lights on fire, as long as he can find a way to save the main hard drive. I haven't done a complete backup in over a week and it's been a very busy week. Suckage. |
We're off to see the wizard today! Well, technically, it's the vet, but "the wizard" sounds like a lot more fun. The kitties are due for their annual physicals, complete with shots, and we're also going to find out whether the giant dark spot, which has recently developed, in Zoe's left iris is melanoma or not. Let's hope we come home with good news today. EDIT: Good news. It's not melanoma, just discoloration due to old age. Yay! Aside from their mild heart murmurs and smallish kidneys, both of which we've known about for ages, they're both in great health. Zoe's weight has even gone up some more. She's now at 8lbs 11oz. |
Mr Moo and I are watching the Red Sox play an exhibition game in Japan on mlb.tv. It's all in Japanese - the announcers, the scoreboard, everything. We haven't got a clue what's happening unless someone hits the ball. It's absolutely hysterical, especially the announcers. It's like watching Iron Chef: Baseball Edition. We can't stop laughing. I'm starting to wish all major league games were broadcast in Japanese. It's much more entertaining. |
I couldn't sleep last night and was too tired to do any real work so I finished watching this instead: As is the case with most Dickens, you are introduced to an overwhelming number of characters early on and it takes a bit of concentration to sort and keep track of them all. However, the satisfaction of seeing all of their story lines come together at the end make it all worthwhile. It also means the story takes a little while to really get going, too, but it does eventually and I found it to be quite suspenseful when all was said and done. I definitely would not recommend this to everyone, but if you like period stuff, you might enjoy this one. |
Mr Moo is leaving for Israel next week on another business trip. I'm not exactly pleased. There is so much turmoil in that part of the world right now. I worry myself sick while he's gone. Where he works while he is there is in the "safe" part of the country, but still. I can't wait for it to be over. |
Congratulations, Wendy's. You have successfully made the dumbest commercial ever. If hamburgers were meant to be frozen, wouldn't cows come from Antarctica? Makes me insane every time I hear it. |
"NAME THAT MOVIE" CONTEST - 120 The "Name That Movie" contest round that would never end. |
We officially popped our Craig's List cherry today. We sold Mr Moo's old desk chair for $40. |
Did I ever mention that Mr Moo bought me an iPod Classic for my birthday last year? |
I shouldn't have opened my big fat mouth. I just finished telling my MIL this weekend that allergy season isn't all that bad for me since my allergies suck pretty much all year round and not just in the spring. Guess who can't stop sneezing today. My poor nose. |
"NAME THAT MOVIE" CONTEST - 123 Round 123 is still open. So is Round 120, but I'll spare you having to look at those pics for the millionth time. You can find them here if you want another look. |
TODAY'S WORKOUT: Cathe Friedrich's Basic Step & Stability Ball Abdominal Workout Mr Moo worked out with me again. He's becoming a step master. Granted, the ab workout is totally kicking his butt, but he is getting the step routine down. |
Someone submitted the following question for the Ask Moo portion of my website. Since I know not everyone visits that part of my site and I've been asked about this on more than one occasion, I thought I'd post my response here in my journal in case anyone else is interested. My question. As you look into your kichen on the cam. What is to the left as you walk around the corner. Is it the laurndry room??? It depends on which corner you're talking about. Since it's easier to show you rather than attempt to explain it all, here's a floor plan of our downstairs. PS - Our laundry room is the small room in between the front entryway and the garage. |
My cross stitch progress as of February 20: Older pics of this project can be found in my photo catalog under "Crafts & Hobbies - Cross Stitch - Birth of Christ". |
Hiya. Remember me? Reports of my abduction by aliens are only slightly exaggerated. Mostly, I've been busy and just haven't felt much like posting. Here's some pics for your amusement. Start with one crappy, old and too small faucet that came with the house and you completely hate. |
TODAY'S WORKOUT: Cathe Friedrich's Basic Step I'm so bored of this workout, but I told myself I would stick with it for at least one week until I got my stamina and coordination back. Well, honestly, I don't think there's any hope for my coordination at this point, but my stamina is improving at least. |
"NAME THAT MOVIE" CONTEST - 120 Round 120 is still open. If I had known this one was going to be this difficult, I would have made it a challenger. |
TODAY'S WORKOUT: Cathe Friedrich's Basic Step Mr Moo didn't work out with me today because one of his calf muscles was killing him. He says it's been bothering him for some time now, but I think step aerobics kicked his a$$ and he doesn't want to admit it. :-) Yesterday was weigh-in day. While I weigh myself every day, I haven't posted any stats since January 5 and before that, December 9. From January 5, I'm +2 pounds. From December 9, I'm +6 pounds. ((insert disgusted face here)) I keep yelling at the scale, "Hey! You're going the wrong way!", but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Height: 5' 2" Current Weight: 120 Highest Weight: 167 (January 14, 2006) Goal Weight: 110 Pounds Lost: 47 |
TODAY'S WORKOUT: Cathe Friedrich's Basic Step & Tamilee Webb's I Want That Body - Arms, Program 1 Mr Moo worked out with me again today. It's nice having a partner in crime. Share the misery! |
