Stuka Update #746

Finally spoke with the avian vet very late this afternoon. Based on his test results, my description of his behavior and his weight, she is not hopeful at all that Stuka is going to survive this. She wants to do one more fecal swab just to be sure, but it looks like we're going to end up euthanizing him in the morning. That's assuming he even lives through the night. His chest is swollen again. He's all fluffy again. And he's sitting on the bottom of the cage in the corner. All of which are really, really bad signs. There is a microscopic chance that whatever is making him so sick is still a treatable condition. However, because his weight is so low now, she doesn't think he'll be able to respond well or quickly enough to recover. We will call the clinic as soon as they open in the morning. Hopefully, they'll be able to squeeze us in right away since we still have to be on our way to the train station by mid-afternoon. It's going to be a long sucky night.
