When we went hiking with my brother on Tuesday, with the wind chill factor, it was -5F/-20.5C. Currently, in Portland, it's 52F/11C. We feel like we're cooking!

We are having an unprecedented Big Freeze in the UK at the moment - rural temperatures are going down towards the -20C mark or lower tonight. It's about -9C where I am. As always, we are woefully unprepared over here - grit shortages, an overload on our gas resources for heating, closed schools, half the population not travelling to work, and amazingly silent roads in the city ! If it wasn't for the fact I have a chest infection and am currently stuck at home, I'd be out there building a snowman !!!
