MOST: I love the fact that we can find all of the following within just a few hours drive from our house: an active volcano, gorgeous coastline, old-growth forest, a variety of mountains, high desert, a modern metropolitan area, the Columbia River Gorge and everything in between. You couldn't ask for more beautiful scenery. LEAST: The temperate weather. It's too nice here! Don't get me wrong. I don't miss having to drive in waist deep snow or the unbearable humidity of New England summers. However, when those are missing, you also lose out on the glorious arrival of spring and the amazing cool off and colors of fall. Since all of the seasons here are so mild, they kind of just run into one another and you hardly notice them changing.
