Why would you deny seeing something strictly because it's weird? Most people would be excited to be able to claim such a thing.

I think it's okay to lie when the truth would cause someone else to be incredibly hurt or devastated and the only thing that would come of telling them is that you would feel better (selfish reasons). It's hard dealing with absolutes so I'm sure there would be exceptions to this rule as well. I don't like lying and try not to do it ever anyway, so this is a tough one to answer.
