Tempted to leave a series of jokes, but won't. Old Ukrainian saying, given me by Walter Powell, as in Powell's Books: "if you want to make a friend, eat a bushel of salt toghether."
Endured hardships will even the playing ground - enforce honesty - will bring out our worst and best.
