Do you tend to save everything or toss everything? Why?

category: Personal Profile

I want to save everything, but I've been forcing myself to get rid of a lot of things lately. We just don't have the storage space in this house to keep everything. I also prefer an uncluttered look to the house.

You could also donate any usable items to charity. I know places like the Salvation Army (in some areas) and the ARC will send a truck to your house to pick things up if you have a lot.

Because my small flat is packed to the rafters with crap, I have been applying the Chinese principle to my belongings. The Chinese can't get their heads round the Western idea of hoarding, and they always ask three questions when they want to get rid of something: do I use it, do I need it, do I love it ? If you answer no to all three questions it goes in the bin. I have successfully managed to discard about a third of my possessions using this method, and no doubt there's a lot more I can get rid of !

Good for you! I might have to give that method a try myself.
