Many years ago my life was a mess and I was drinking very heavily. After a particularly bad bender one night I ended up wandering the city streets in a complete alcoholic stupor - a homeless guy took pity on me, bought me a coffee, sobered me up and then unbelievably insisted on paying for my taxi home! I went back a day or so later to say thank you and repay him, but I was never able to find him again. I was quite humbled by the experience - in a strange way I think that was what set me on the road to getting my life back on track.
