What's the worst weather situation you've been in? Explain.

category: Blast from the Past

On the way to MA for my grandfather's funeral, my flight stopped in Atlanta, Georgia. As we approached the airport, we flew through a very large and very frightening thunder and lightning storm. If I never do that again, it will be too soon.

There was another incident many many moons ago. I was talking on the phone long distance with Mr Moo. I remember telling him that I couldn't believe how windy it was outside. I thought my apartment building was going to blow over. I found out the next day that a tornado had passed over my apartment complex and touched down only a couple miles away. Scary!

Living on a ranch in Colorado we got a 500 year snowstorm that dropped 12 feet of snow in 24 hours. I was out plowing the first 18 hours then was heading home when suddenly in white out conditions it cleared just in time for me to see a white pickup truck stranded in the middle of the street. I swerved into the ditch and had to walk the last 2 miles home in the blizzard. I almost didnt make it home, getting swallowed up in snowdrifts that were way over my head... fortunately I was dressed for the occasion. Probably the only reason I lived.
