It was nothing spectacular. The alternator on my car died on my way home from work back when I was living in NY. The car just up and stopped working. There was no traffic on the road I was on so I coasted over the side without issue. I didn't have a mobile phone back then so I had to knock on someone's door and ask to use the phone. AAA towed the car and it was fixed within a day or two.
