What's the difference between intelligence and wisdom?

category: Viewpoints

I think of intelligence as book-learned and wisdom as life-learned. Roughly. There are a lot of smart people in the world who don't know how to relate to other people or cope with different social situations. Yes, they're intelligent, but I wouldn't call them wise. On the other hand, someone may not have the highest IQ ever, but if they have achieved a level of peace and serenity about them that allows them to deal with all kinds of people, situations and life in general, I'd call them wise.
